After a day of spending more than an hour with his membership, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan sent a similar message

to the world of golf at his first press conference since the Players Championship in March.

Jay Monahan had planned to unveil the Tour changes to the current system, but instead spent most of the press conference

asking questions about the ongoing threat of LIV Golf and how the cycle plans to respond.

“I do not have a sense of humor. If this is an arms race and if the only weapons here are a dollar cost, the PGA Tour cannot compete,

”said Jay Monahan. “The PGA Tour, an American center, cannot compete with foreign powers that spend billions of dollars trying to buy a game of golf.

“We welcome a good, healthy competition. LIV Saudi league golf is not that. It is a senseless threat;

who does not care about the return on investment or the true growth of the game. ”
